Ryan Terlecki, MD
Board-Certified Reconstructive Urologist
Board-certified and fellowship-trained reconstructive urologist Dr. Ryan Terlecki is a globally recognized leader within his field. As one of the few fellowship directors for programs approved by the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS), he is the only one to have trained at three prior GURS programs. Dr. Terlecki performs the highest annual volume of penile implant procedures in the state of North Carolina, and he is the premier regional expert in urethral strictures, Peyronie’s disease, male stress incontinence, buried penis, and male infertility.
Dr. Terlecki earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan in 2003 and performed his surgery internship and urology residency at Wayne State affiliated hospitals. In 2009 and 2010, Dr. Terlecki completed fellowships in reconstructive urology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver and at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, respectively.
As a physician and an associate professor of urology at Wake Forest School of Medicine, Dr. Terlecki is also known for excellence in communication. In fact, he authored and teaches a course on communication skills to other healthcare providers. He is well-published in the medical literature, with superior clinical outcomes. He was chosen as president-elect for the North Carolina Urological Association and is a recognized participant and prize winner of the American Urological Association Leadership Program. Dr. Terlecki enjoys reaching the general public through media interviews, like this one with a local station.
With a special interest in our nation’s wounded warriors, Dr. Terlecki is the primary investigator for two registered clinical trials, both funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, involving tissue engineering to restore both the male urethra and erectile tissue. Additionally, Dr. Terlecki and his colleagues have presented novel research regarding stem cell therapy for erectile dysfunction and are currently planning a clinical trial.
Dr. Terlecki is board certified by the American Board of Urology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
